Half of all bookings were parents booking for a child. Asking that first removed six questions.
Half of Vardnet's bookings were parents booking for a child. The app asked them six questions about the patient before it showed a single free time.
Nobody had looked at it that way because the form was the same for everyone. The data said otherwise: on weekday mornings it was mostly parents, in a hurry, on a phone.
One question first
We moved one question to the top: who is the visit for? If the answer is my child, the app already knows the parent, the clinic and the insurance, so six questions disappear.
The calendar now comes second, with three times instead of a full month.
What it changed
Booking takes three taps. No‑shows fell 30% in the first quarter, mostly because the reminder the day before lets people move a visit in one tap instead of just not coming.
